Our Martial Art
Soo Bahk Do is the name of the art we study and it’s direct translation is Soo (hand), Bahk (strike), Do (art or way). According to the Moo Yei Do Bo Tong Ji, the name “Bahk” originated in the age of Chun Chu (2700 years ago) and the name “Soo Bahk” originated during the early Jon Han Dynasty in China (2200 years ago).

Caleb Underwood
Owner/Head Instructor
Caleb Underwood started training Soo Bahk Do in 06/02/2012 under the guidance of his instructor Guinn, Sa Bom Nim at Montgomery Karate. He tested for Cho Dan (1st Degree Midnight Blue/ Black Belt) 11/07/2015. He started his studies for Jo Kyo (certified assistant instructor) around the same time, after successfully completing the requirements for the Jo Kyo Program he became a certified Jo Kyo on 01/01/2017. Caleb continued his training and tested for Ee Dan (2nd degree Midnight Blue/ Black Belt) 11/04/2017. Caleb received Kyo Sa (certified Instructor) certification on 08/31/2018. Caleb then tested for Sam Dan (3rd degree Midnight Blue/ Black Belt) on 10/03/2020 and achieved his Sa Dan (4th degree Midnight Blue/ Black Belt) and obtained certification as a Sa Bom (certified master instructor) in 2024. Caleb has gone to the national championship tournament to compete in individual Forms, individual sparring team forms, team sparring, and Moo Do sparring divisions in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022, where he won multiple first and second place titles. Caleb is very active within the Moo Duk Kwan (world-wide governing organization for Soo Bahk Do) within his community, region, country, and internationally. Caleb has served for the last few years as the Region 6 representative for the Youth Leadership program and in Oct of 2022 served as the national Representative for the United States for the international Youth Leadership Symposium in Incheon, South Korea.
Leighanna Underwood
Owner/Instructor
Leighanna Underwood started training Soo Bahk Do at the age of ten on 05/30/2012 under the guidance of Guinn, Sa Bom Nim. After training for three years she tested for her Cho Dan (1st degree Midnight Blue/Black Belt) on 11/07/2015. She went on to test for Ee Dan (2nd degree Midnight Blue/ Black Belt) on 04/17/2018, After achieving Sam Dan Leighanna started studies for Jo Kyo (certified assistant instructor) certification which she received on 08/12/2022. She's currently instructing the 4 through 6 year old Tiger Tot program on Mondays and Wednesdays, and is now looking forward to studying for her Kyo Sa (certified instructor) certification. Leighanna has attended and competed in the World Moo Duk Kwan National championship Tournament in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022. Placing highly each year in Team Form, Team Sparring, Team Demonstration, as well as Individual Form and Sparring competitions. In 2022 Leighanna also participated in the 5th World Moo Duk Kwan Youth Leadership Symposium in Incheon, South Korea. There she attended specialized training under the guidance of the Grand Master, as well as many other instructors from across the world. She also assisted in creating new ideas to continue to grow and spread the art of Soo Bahk Do. Leighanna enjoys sharing her knowledge and experiences with the students, and looks forward to many more years of training. She has hopes of one day opening her own studio and continuing to share the art. Soo Bahk!
